Mother/daughter artists to be exhibited at Arts on Main

An opening reception for an exhibition of abstract paintings by Rose Nygaard of Gloucester and her daughter, Geraldine “Gigi” Fitzurka of Reston will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at Arts on Main in Gloucester.

This First Friday event is free and open to the public. There will be live music by Norfolk-based band House of Cards. Their sound has a folk/Americana flavor, blending acoustic and electric guitars with harmony and the occasional ukulele or mandolin, a release stated.

The evening includes a beer and wine cash bar and food for purchase. About the artists

Nygaard works in different media, producing figurative, still life, and abstract paintings, while experimenting with collage as another way of expressing ideas and emotions, a release stated.
