Morton receives VEDA President’s Award

Gloucester native Christy Tomlinson Morton has received the 2022 President’s Award from the Virginia Economic Developers Association.

Until recently, Morton served as senior vice president of external affairs for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, representing it with the Virginia General Assembly, the state administration and Virginia’s congressional delegation.

David Manley, VEDA president, said, “Christy’s drive has been unparalleled. Her insight and value offered are incomparable. Christy’s friendship and sense of humor have helped cool down my natural response instincts on more than one occasion, and I consider her a valued confidante.”

The presentation was made Dec. 1 during the VEDA winter meeting held in Richmond.

Morton recently joined Two Capitols Consulting. She previously was executive director of the Virginia Rural Center and deputy director of external affairs and policy development for then-Gov. Bob McDonnell.
