MORRISSETTA CORA LEWIS BUNTING

Morrissetta Cora Lewis Bunting, 89, of Mathews, Virginia (formerly of Richmond, Virginia), passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. She volunteered for Hands Across Mathews for 14 years and was a member of the Chesapeake Bay Circle of The King’s Daughters of Mathews. She was the owner of Cora’s Boarding Home for the elderly for 12 years in Surry, Virginia.

She was predeceased by her adoptive parents, Myrtle and Bernard Lumsden; husbands, Leon R. Lewis, and later in life, Charlie Bunting.

Cora is survived by five daughters, Brenda Daul, Claudette Christman (Karl), Theresa Henshaw (Jerry), Marguerite Klaiss (Don) and Anna Lewis; one son, Leon Eric Lewis (Wanda); 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren, and many devoted friends including Brenda Handhart.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 2 p.m. at H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family. Please be advised that current state-mandated guidelines will apply to all in attendance, including social distancing and appropriate face coverings.
