More holiday activities planned this weekend in Gloucester, Mathews

Following on the heels of last weekend’s abundance of holiday festivities, this weekend looks to be not quite as hectic, but will have its share of events in and around Gloucester and Mathews.

A highlight of the weekend will be the "Old-Fashioned Mathews Christmas" parade Saturday afternoon. This year, approximately 40 units in the parade will begin at 3 p.m. from Thomas Hunter Middle School and will travel to the Bank of America building.

For those participating in the parade, lineup will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Participants in the parade have been encouraged to be as creative as possible in making their floats and entries. They are also encouraged to play and sing Christmas songs while traveling the parade route.

In Gloucester, weekend events include Gloucester High School’s Choral Concert that will begin Friday at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. The evening will include a mix of classical, classic and classy choral music.
