Moonshine Society

Moonshine Society (Cole Holland, Rodney Dunton, Jenny “Black Betty” Langer and Tod Ellsworth, from left) will perform from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Flat Iron Crossroads in Gloucester. The creation of three music scholars who met at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Moonshine Society “teamed up to craft their own formula of music that speaks to the soul and defies the labels of traditional music confines,” said a press release. The formula they came up with in 2009 is their own version of soulful blues, roots rock, and old-school R&B. The founding members were inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2012. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.flatironcrossroads.com. AR Smokehouse food truck will be on site, and beverages will be available for purchase. The show is likely to be outside, so those attending should bring a lawn chair.
