Monarchs break Lady Dukes’ win streak

The Lady Dukes volleyball team’s winning streak was broken two weeks ago this Tuesday (on Sept. 18) by Menchville High School. Menchville’s volleyball teams are very strong on both defense and offense, which has gotten them to first place in the standings. 

Menchville came into the matches carrying an ongoing winning streak of their own. Both Gloucester’s girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams warded off defeat but ultimately fell to Menchville in all three sets. 

The girls ended the night with scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-21. Tori Walker and Mackenzie Smith led the team in serving with four and three aces, respectively. Smith also added nine setting assists. Ashley Sandahl and Sam Leber led the Dukes offensively with seven and five kills, respectively. Walker led Gloucester defensively with 10 digs.
