Mock wins RAL’s Viewer’s Choice Award

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the votes were counted and Doug Mock, executive director of the RAL Art Center, was declared the winner.

For the last three weeks, visitors to the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock voted for their favorite piece of art work in this year’s 132-piece Labor Day Art Show. Out of 331 votes, Mock’s watercolor of “O” is for Owen received the highest number of votes by a considerable margin, a release stated.

Mock is an award-winning watercolor artist and teacher living in White Stone. He creates art inspired by people and nature. His work is characterized by unique design, bold colors and creative subject matter. Capturing life’s simple moments, Mock’s art connects with the viewer on an emotional level, according to the release.

He is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society. Mock offers classes and workshops at the University of Richmond and the RAL Art Center, 19 N. Main Street, Kilmarnock.
