MOC receives grant for Mathews Marathon

The Mathews Outdoor Club has been awarded a grant in the amount of $5,675 from the Mathews Community Foundation to upgrade critical equipment for the Mathews Marathon, Half Marathon, and Relay. This year’s race will take place on Oct. 17.

The funding will be used to supplement and replace aging event infrastructure. Key improvements include the addition of a second chip timing station at the marathon midway point, as well as upgrades to course signage to improve athlete navigation and safety.

The Mathews Marathon is now a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon, so maintaining precise timing systems and clear course marking is essential for these qualification standards.
