Mobjack rowers in middle of busy fall racing season

The Mobjack Rowing Association’s fall racing program is in full swing. MRA rowers began the season on Oct. 22 at the Head of the Chickahominy (HOTC) regatta in Williamsburg then traveling to Occoquan on Oct. 23 to race at the 24th annual Occoquan Chase. Last Saturday, the rowers competed in the 21st annual Head of the Lafayette in Norfolk.

The first teams invited to the inaugural HOTC were MRA, Gloucester, Hickory, and River City of Richmond. Mobjack pulled good results on the 5,000-meter course netting four gold medals, two silvers, a bronze and two fourth-place finishes.

First up for Mobjack, master rower and MHS alum Stacie Wiatt (in her first race in 17 years), teamed with Katelyn James to win the women’s open double race with Samantha Fank and Rachel Witt taking third.
