Mobjack rowers compete in Mid Atlantic Erg Sprints

The Mobjack Rowing Association’s winter training program travelled to T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria Saturday to compete in the 31st annual Mid Atlantic Erg Sprints (indoor rowing championships).

Mobjack rowers have been training on the Concept II Ergometer since November to improve their athletic base and 2,000-meter time. The Mid Atlantic Erg Sprints, which offers 352 events from a kids event age 5-12 to veterans 80+, is the second largest indoor competition in the U.S., second only to the CRASH B Sprints in Boston which started indoor racing in 1982.

Competing first for Mobjack, Casey Martin, Maddie Lee, Bailey Hamilton and Katelyn James teamed up for the 5-minute sliders competition which connects four “ergs” with tracks for a combined score of meters traveled.

The girls won the event with 5,315 meters ahead of teams from James Madison H.S., Oakton H.S. and Annapolis Juniors. The foursome raced again individually later in the day in the Junior Age 17 o...
