Mobjack rowers compete in Head of the Occoquan

The Mobjack Rowing Association’s fall youth competition program traveled to Occoquan on Sunday to compete in the 34th annual Head of the Occoquan.

Head races are the fall season “cross country” events of rowing, consisting of single file, timed 5,000-meter runs grouped by types of boats or age groups. The Mobjack rowers did well, pulling two silver medal finishes, and also placing top 10 or notable finishes based on age.

On the men’s side, juniors Zane Musick-Williams and Fletcher Rich passed a number of boats to place second overall in the men’s open age club double. Other Mobjack entries were Anthony Warinner and Josh Anthony (average age 16) and MRA alumni rowers Oliver Ulsaker and Wood Hudson (average age 35) pulling seventh and eighth respectively out of nine entries.

Musick-Williams and Rich also joined forces with Henry Hospodar, Cole Wheeler and coxswain Ben Stroud to take 10th out of 22 in the men’s upper level four event. Hudson and Stro...
