Mobjack Bay Marina’s new management staying busy

Business is growing at Mobjack Bay Marina in North and new boatyard manager Danny Reid, owner of Danny’s Marine Service, is staying busy. 

The 99-slip marina is 80 percent full, and there are 21 boats in dry dock, Reid said. He works with his brother David, who specializes in woodwork.

Reid came to North from Urbanna, where he had a business at Remlik Marina. Before that he had a mobile marine service for a long time, but he said he “got tired out of working out of the back of a van.” He said he’s had some clients for 25 years, and a few of them followed him to Mathews. Word of mouth has brought in new clients, as well, he said.

The Reids offer a full range of services on all boats up to 20 tons, including gas or diesel inboard or outboard engines, electrical and plumbing systems, and wood and fiberglass repair and painting.
