Mathews County Triad held its annual Senior Safety Fair last Thursday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, with Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares as the keynote speaker.
Eighty senior citizens enjoyed this year’s fair, said Mathews Triad president Alice Stewart, along with 42 vendors, 18 Triad members, and several guests.
The crowning moment was a presentation by Miyares of the Jim Gilmore Award for Triad Excellence to longtime Triad member Jack Cranford. This award was conferred on the organization last October at the annual Virginia Triad Conference in Williamsburg.
In written comments shared later with the Gazette-Journal, Miyares said, “Mathews County Triad sets the gold standard when it comes to protecting and empowering Virginia’s seniors.
