MILTON LOWELL THOMAS

Milton Lowell Thomas, 69, of Hayes, died Sept. 12, 2013 at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

Lowell was a graduate of Gloucester High School, the Newport News Apprentice School, and retired from Northrop Grumman. He was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, a member of Achilles Masonic Lodge #281, A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite of Newport News, Pocahontas 103, Order of Eastern Star, Williamsburg, and the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Bena.

Lowell was a very warm, kind man with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He was always willing to help anyone, especially his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Christine Shackelford Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Thomas; son, Chris Thomas and wife Lisa; step-daughter, Susan Bushee; sister, Barbara Sue Hines and husband Al; grandson, Michael Bushee; great-grandson, Derek Bushee; niece, Christina Green, and his furry cat friends Coco and June Bug.

A graveside service with Masonic Rites conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Gloucester Point Cemetery. Friends were asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, from 4-5:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
