Miles, Dalton win regional titles; 6 qualify for states

Two Mathews High School wrestlers—Aaron Miles (120 lbs.) and Jacob Dalton (182 lbs.)—won their individual weight classes at the VHSL Class 1 Region A/B Super Regional Tournament, held Friday and Saturday at Mathews High School.

Thirteen teams competed, with Riverheads winning with a team score of 211. Lancaster (172 points) and Franklin (170.5 points) finished second and third. The host Blue Devils placed sixth overall with 119.5 points.

Miles and Dalton each went 3-0 in the tournament. Miles scored first-period pins over Nicholas Grigsby of Rappahannock County and Kyle Uhler of Lancaster and, in the championship bout, Quadir Deshield of Franklin.

Dalton pinned Joseph Lee Reinbolt of Rappahannock County and Trevor Roberts of Riverheads and won a 6-4 decision over Joshua Johnson of Franklin for the title.
