Tony & Milena’s Italian Ristorante, located at Hayes Plaza Shopping center, Hayes, is now under different ownership.
Milena Fiorello of Williamsburg is now the sole proprietor of the approximately 50-seat eatery. Previously, she owned the business with her brother, Tony Fiorello of Williamsburg, but he now owns another restaurant in Williamsburg.
The restaurant has undergone other changes, too. One of the biggest changes, Milena said, is an expanded menu.
Tony & Milena’s has added a number of Sicilian specialties. Many of the menu’s popular lunch and dinner items remain, Milena said. Big sellers at lunch include the Italian and steak/cheese subs, she said, as well as salads.
Dinner entrees include the popular veal sorrentino, which Milena said features filet of veal in a Marsala wine sauce; veal venezia, veal and Italian sausage; chicken cacciatore, and grilled chicken fettuccine or tortellini.
Salads are very popular, especially the Greek and Caesar versions, Milena said.
The menu also includes a large selection of pizzas, calzones and strombolis. There are also an assortment of appetizers, including mussels, mozzarella dipping sticks and a marinated artichoke dish; soups; some American dishes like grilled chicken breast and a half-pound burger; desserts such as chocolate cheesecake and cannoli, and beverages including wine, beer and soft drinks.
The menu for children (“bambinis”) includes cheese ravioli, chicken tenders, rigatoni and a personal pizza.
Milena said the restaurant offers dine-in and take-out service, and catering.
She and Tony, along with other family help, opened the restaurant in April 2008. She said that despite the economic downturn, the Gloucester community has really liked their food and supported the restaurant.
The current staff has more than a half dozen workers, including several of Milena’s relatives.
Milena is a native of Sicily as is her husband, Vito Randazzo, the restaurant’s chef. Randazzo is a graduate of a culinary institute in Sicily, his wife said, and has 18 years’ experience as a chef. Vito worked in a family restaurant in Sicily for more than a decade, then worked eight years for a restaurant owned by another family member in Williamsburg.
Milena previously worked eight years at a restaurant in Williamsburg owned by her relatives.
Milena has three children: sons Giovanni and Francesco Pio and daughter Nancy.
