MILDRED J. ‘MICKEY’ LAUER CHARLES

Mildred J. “Mickey” Lauer Charles, age 94, of Midlothian, departed this life on Nov. 3, 2017.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Jan. 17, 1923 to William J. and Emma Mosbacher Lauer.

Mickey and her husband of 53 years, Thomas A. Charles, lived in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania before retiring to Gwynn’s Island in 1983, where they spent 16 wonderful years together. Following Thomas’s passing in 1999, Mickey moved to Midlothian in 2002.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mickey was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth J. Lauer, and her sister, Lorraine “Lorree” Lauer Demper.

She is survived by her four children, Jeffrey A. Charles (Bonnie), Christine A. Charles Chapman (David), Thomas W. Charles (Rose) and Randall A. Charles (Patricia). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mickey lit up a room with her smile and she will be sorely missed!

The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, 160 Main Street, Mathews, Va. 23109. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews.

Mickey’s family wants to thank Morningside of Bellgrade and the Laurels of Willow Creek, both in Midlothian, for taking such good care of Mickey in her final years.
