MILDRED HUDGINS DIGGS

Mildred Hudgins Diggs, of Bavon, born Nov. 3, 1923, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018. 

She was born and raised in Mathews County, and was an active member of Beulah United Methodist Church. She was involved for many years with the United Methodist Women, Chesapeake Bay Chapter of The King’s Daughters, and the Mathews County Woman’s Club.

She married the love of her life, Joseph Randolph Diggs, on March 25, 1945, and they spent 60 years of marriage together. She enjoyed spending time with family, time spent in Louisiana and annual family beach trips. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Randolph Diggs, and great-grandson, Tucker Allen Armstrong.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Brian Diggs and his wife Beverly; her grandchildren, Jennifer Diggs Gay (Ray) and Leslie Diggs Armstrong (Scott); her great-grandchildren, Barrett, Josephine, Cambell and Levi Gay, and McKenzie and Lucas Armstrong.

The family would like to thank Riverside Convalescent Center-Mathews for all of their love and care.

A service to celebrate Mildred’s life will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Beulah United Methodist Church, 7558 New Point Comfort Hwy., New Point, Va. 23138. Burial will follow at St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, Va. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 o’clock.
