MILDRED CHRISTEEN HOGG BROUGHTON

August 24, 1931-April 19, 2026

Millie, 94, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. She is now at eternal peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was born and lived in Norfolk, Va., until 1965. As a single mother she moved with her children to Gloucester County where her parents lived in Wicomico, to raise her family.

At 16 years of age, she became a Christian and lived her life for the Lord with tenacity. She loved to speak to others about Jesus anytime.

She was a devoted mother to her daughters and family. She was employed by the Gloucester County System in food service and as a seamstress for K&E Sewing Factory until it closed. She then returned to Gloucester County Schools in food service until she retired in 2003 at 73 years old.

There was nothing she would not tackle and accomplish on her own. She loved to sew, garden, crochet, and do word search books. She also had a love for animals and had many fur babies of her own.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Thomas and Alice Hogg; brothers, Bennie, Gerald, and Allen; and sisters, Marie, Betty Lee, and Barbara “Ann.”

She is survived by two daughters, Tina Turner and Annette (Dennis) Greene; grandchildren, Steven James (Lou Jean), and Gary Broughton (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Caleb and Hayley James, and Luna Broughton; sister, Lois Natoli, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at New Life Ministry Center, 3450 S. George Washington Memorial Hwy., Hayes, on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. It will be conducted by Pastors Jack and Susan Smith. A reception will follow.
