A single-vehicle accident on Route 33 in Middlesex on Sunday took the life of a Midlothian man.

The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. Sunday on Route 33 just west of Route 1101 (Ball Park Road). A 2015 BMW 650 was traveling east when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole and a fence, according to state police.

The state police said the driver, Gerald E. Carr, 74, of Midlothian, was transported to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Carr was wearing a seatbelt and the crash remains under investigation.
