Middlesex fire

Firefighters from Gloucester and Mathews joined crews from Middlesex last week to put out a commercial building fire in Middlesex County. Shortly before 8 a.m. last Wednesday, Feb. 15, crews from throughout the region were called to respond to the fire in a large boat storage building at The Boatyard at Christchurch, which is located near Christchurch School. According to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, it was stated that there were more than 100 boats inside the building. Because the boats on fire were all raised high above ground, Tower 1 was used in an “offensive” attack by extending its aerial inside the building so that firefighters could fight the fire from its bucket above the boats. Every boat inside the boatel sustained smoke and heat damage; three boats sustained fire damage, and two boats and other equipment were completely destroyed, GVFRS reported.
