Michael Alan Jones, 67, of Toano, Va., died Saturday, November 22, 2025, peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was a jack of all trades and a master of many. He had a soulful love of music. He adored his mother, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, David F. Jones; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Hortense Higgs, and paternal grandparents, David and Cecil Jones.

Michael is survived by his beloved mother, Janet A. Higgs of Toano; his brother, David T. Jones of Roanoke, Va.; his sister, Robin A. Jones of Saluda, Va.; his children, Jennifer (Alexander) Roahrig of Mathews, Va., Michelle (Douglas) Shepeluk of Gloucester, Va., Jessica (Aaron) Goetz of Gloucester and Michael “T.J.” Jones of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Nevaeh (Thomas) Johnson of Gloucester, Braden Cooper, Angelina “Angel” Cooper, Scarlett Roahrig, Dawson Goetz, and Gregg “Dean” Roahrig, and one great-granddaughter, Paisley Rayne Johnson. Mike was a friend to many, but best friend Ray Dise was with him through thick and thin.

His family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the VCU Oncology Department and to the wonderful Riverside Hospice nurses in Williamsburg, Va. Their compassion made this transition in life bearable, for that we are eternally grateful.

The family will hold a small graveside service at Williamsburg Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2025.
