MHS wrestling

The Mathews High School wrestling team traveled to Warwick last Wednesday for a triangular meet with Kecoughtan and Warwick. However, Mathews never faced Kecoughtan because, in the words of MHS wrestling coach Josh Schiable, the Warriors “were scared to wrestle us.” Warwick had defeated Kecoughtan, 54-15, and Mathews rolled over the host Raiders, 60-15, to improve to 3-0 as a team. Among the undefeated Devils are juniors Noah Wright (left photo, 150 lbs.) and Fabian Cardenas (right photo, 157 lbs.). Both are currently 3-0. Mathews was scheduled to host a match with Essex and Northampton on Wednesday night. On Saturday, the squad travels to Lancaster.
