MHS wrestlers go 4-3 in recent action

The Mathews High School wrestling team picked up four wins, while losing three bouts in recent action.

Last Wednesday, the Blue Devils traveled to Lancaster. Mathews defeated Northumberland 36-27, but fell to the host Red Devils, 48-27. Mason Fiscella (182 lbs.) went 2-0 with two pins, as well as Michael-Dion Davis-Ruskovitz (152 lbs.) and Parker Thompson (138 lbs.).

MHS traveled to Franklin on Saturday to participate in the Franklin Duals. Mathews emerged from the day-long competition with a 3-2 record, with wins over King and Queen (42-12), Lancaster (44-35) and Northumberland (54-12), and losses to Deep Creek (50-27) and Parry McCluer (by tie-breaking criteria, 40-40). 

Fiscella (wrestling at 170 lbs. and 182 lbs., two pins). Joseph Hall (182 lbs. and 195 lbs., two pins and a tech fall victory), Thompson (138 lbs. and 145 lbs., three pins) and Caleb Sadler (113 lbs. and 120 lbs., pin and minor decision) all went 5-0 on the day, according to MHS head coach Josh Schaible.
