MHS wrestlers beat Bishop Sullivan, fall to York, Peninsula Catholic

The Mathews High School wrestling team defeated Bishop Sullivan and lost to York and Peninsula Catholic last Wednesday at a meet at Peninsula Catholic.

In the 48-33 victory over Bishop Sullivan, Ricky Bristow, Chad Beattie, Caleb Johnson and Mason Fiscella scored pins for Mathews. Caleb Sadler and Parker Thompson pinned their opponents in the Devils’ 63-12 loss to the host team, while Sadler was the only MHS wrestler to score a pin for Mathews in the 55-19 loss to York High School.

The Mathews High School wrestling team is off for the rest of 2015. The team will hold an invitational on Saturday, Jan. 2, starting at 8 a.m. Teams scheduled to compete include Middlesex, Essex, Lafayette, L.C. Bird, Grafton, Peninsula Catholic, Bruton, Franklin and Norview. ...
