MHS volleyball teams defeat Lady Tigers; varsity is 13-3

Both the Mathews varsity and JV volleyball teams easily defeated King and Queen at home last Thursday evening. The varsity girls now hold an overall season record of 13 wins and three losses while the JV girls are 7-3 on the season.

The MHS varsity squad defeated the visiting Lady Tigers in three sets, 25-7, 25-12 and 25-18. Madison South led the team in assists with 15 followed by Sophie Bandurco with 10. Morgan Driskell led the team in kills with eight; Anne Stewart and Stacey Abernathy followed with four kills each while Kai McCann and Mariah Robinson each had three. Allison Foster, Belle Massimino and Hallie Duncan each added two kills. Brittany Mitchem, Keely Crittenden and Sabrina Barrack each had single kills. Serving aces in the match were Massimino and South with four each, Bandurco with three, Foster and Stewart with two, and Josey Bauby and McCann with one each.
