MHS volleyball improves to 9-2

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team improved its overall season record to 9-2 this week with wins over King William and West Point.

The varsity Lady Devils are 2-0 in conference play. Last Thursday, MHS defeated the King William Cavaliers in three straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19. Leading the team in kills was Anne Stewart with six; she was followed by Caroline Crittenden with five, Hallie Duncan with three, and Mariah Robinson and Madisyn Jackson with two apiece. Madison South, Belle Massimino, and Victoria Bing each added one. Josey Bauby and Massimino each served four aces during the match while Robinson, Duncan and Stewart each served two. South and Mia Gillenwater served one each. South also had 18 assists.
