MHS volleyball drops three

For the first time in what seems like forever, the Mathews High School volleyball team had more than one game during the past week.

The varsity and JV squads faced off against Rappahannock on Monday, Sept. 27, King and Queen on Tuesday, Sept. 28 and Washington and Lee on Thursday, Sept. 30. The varsity and JV Devils fell to all three competitors.

In the Rappahannock game, the varsity Devils fell by scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 25-14. There were a total of 43 serving attempts, three of them being aces from Lily Jarosz, Joice Small and Olivia Ashbaugh. Sarah Ashbaugh, Olivia Coons, Autumn Jenkins, Olivia Ashbaugh, and Small all had perfect serves. Sixty-three total serve receptions made, with Small having just under half. Eighty-two total sets were put up, with Jenkins taking 81 of them. One hundred and eleven attacks are put down, Small having the most attacks, and Sarah Ashbaugh following right behind. Only 19 digs where made, with Sarah Ashbaugh and Small making the most.
