MHS track teams compete in district meet

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to West Point last Wednesday to compete in the Tidewater District Championships.

Overall, the MHS girls placed third and the boys placed second.

Notable highlights for the girls included Rileigh Betz, who won the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:01.57, and Casey Kelly, who won the shot put with a throw of 32’02”.

For the boys, Justin Adams won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:23.41 and Sam Moore placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:16.36.
