MHS track teams compete at Charles City, West Point

The Mathews High School track teams competed at Charles City on Tuesday, April 19, and at the West Point Invitational this past Saturday. 

At the regular season meet in Charles City, the MHS boys and girls won by scores of 179 and 138 points, respectively. Notable performances on the girls’ side were: Casey Kelly won the shot put with a mark of 29’01”; Lauren Bland won the 800-meter run with a new personal best of 2:42; Skylar Lewis won the 3200m run with a time of 14:53, and Ellie Gale won the 300m hurdles with a time of 56.62.

For the boys, Jalen Thomas won the 800m run with a new personal best of 2:04; Hunter Wright won the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.99; Elijah Willis won the triple jump with a mark 40’03”, and Jason Moughon won the 300m hurdles with a time of 46.25.
