MHS track ready for spring sports season

With the onset of this year’s spring sports season, the Mathews High School track team has been busy preparing for its first meet.

Led by head coach Tony Forrest, assistant coach Desmond Smith, and senior captains Nancy Barnhardt, Jessie Nelson, Keinan Triplett and Ian Smith, the team has been working to be ready for the New Kent season opener, which was held yesterday afternoon at New Kent High School.

 

In spite of fewer number of athletes from last year, and levels of experience ranging from novice runner or thrower to experienced track veteran, the team has managed to build itself around the variety of track events, from hurdles to running to jumping, etc.

Next week, the team will travel to West Point High School for a tri-meet against fellow district competitors Middlesex and West Point.
