The Mathews High School track and field team started its season this past Thursday at Charles City. The meet was very small, with only three teams competing. Much like the meet, the Devils’ roster this year is small compared to past years. The Devils are looking forward to seeing how their season will turn out this year and started strong at their first meet with many team members placing. MHS showed up a little off its game and tired from just coming back from indoor states recently, but still had great results. Nora Suthard placed fourth in the 100-meter dash, third in the 300-meter hurdles, and second in triple jump. Elizabeth Moore placed first in the 400 and first in the 800. Jordan Sadeg placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, second in the 300-meter hurdles, fourth in the long jump, and third in triple jump.
