MHS track girls win, boys second at Conference 42 championships

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Charles City last Thursday to compete at the Conference 42 Championships. The girls’ team won the Conference 42 Championship for the second year in a row, and the boys’ team was Conference 42 runners-up.

In track, to move on to regionals, the participant needs to place sixth or higher in the conference meet. Many MHS athletes will advance.

The following girls will be moving on to the region championship: Lizzie Stokes, Lauren Bland, Rileigh Betz, Alyssa Curko, Maddy Hobert, Najia Wright, Brittanie Boyd, Ellie Gale, Brittany Mitchem, Maria Spadaccini and Casey Kelly.

For the boys, Jesse Ingram, Corey Cox, Joseph Callis, Cody Kelly, Elijah Willis, Justin Adams, Jalen Thomas, Jordan Jenkins, Caleb Carson, Jason Moughon, Hunter Wright, Marcus Robinson, Josh Foster, Isaiah Maultsby and Nicholas Mann have earned regional berths.
