MHS track competes at Middlesex

The Mathews High School track and field team travelled to Middlesex High School Thursday to compete against Broadwater Academy, Chinco-teague High School, Rappa-hannock High School, West Point High School, and the host Chargers.

For the girls, Kate Small (JV) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, fifth in the high jump, and third in the long jump. Elizabeth Moore placed second in the 1,600-meter run. Jordan Sadeg was first in the 100-meter hurdles, sixth in the long jump, and fourth in the triple jump.

Nora Suthard placed first in the 300-meter hurdles, second in the long jump, and second in the triple jump. Shalan Deese placed first in the high jump and qualified for states. Deese will be joining her teammate Suthard on June 5 and 6 at JMU to compete in the state tournament.

For the boys, Julian Wyatt (JV) placed 16th in the 100-meter dash, ninth in the 200-meter dash, and 13th in the long jump. Lars Golden (JV) placed 17th in the 100-meter dash. Trent Hudson placed fourth in the 400-meter dash. Samuel Miranda placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run and 10th in the shot put. Jacob Johnson placed sixth in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump.

The Blue Devils’ next meet is Wednesday, May 13.
