MHS tennis blanks Northampton, 9-0

The Mathews High School girls’ tennis team had an amazing shutout score of 9-0 against Northampton’s girls last Wednesday. All of the girls played some amazing tennis, putting up an impressive fight against their opponents. In singles play, number-one seed Lyla Duff played against Sophie Taylor, blanking Taylor, 8-0. Ella Ward, at number two, won her match against Sammy Kner, also 8-0. Number 3 Rayann Helbig played Angelina Genuis and also gave the Devils team another big win of 8-0. Playing number four, Jayda Thomas played a tight match against her opponent Fiona Jackson, but never gave up, resulting in a tremendous win, 9-7. Delaney Boatman at number five played against Riennah Rono and won with another amazing score of 8-0. Number six Charlotte Bailey played Jade Collins and won with an impressive 8-1.
