MHS sweeps King William in first meet of the season

Grayson Griffith (left) and Sarah Taylor ran a 30:23 and a 28:53, respectively, at last week’s cross country meet against King William.

In their first meet of the season, the Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams beat King William Friday at Gloucester’s Beaverdam Park, both with scores of 22 points.

For the boys’ team, Cameron Stearns came in first place with a time of 17:45. Next for Mathews was Josh Rosadino with a time of 19:21 and Seth James (JV) with a time of 19:27. Landon Green ran a 20:12, followed by Andrew Greve (20:38), Dylan White (20:50), Brian Robinson (20:59), Grayson Camp (21:56) and Carson Brown (23:38).

Abbie Hudgins and Zoe Camp were the first members of the Mathews girls’ team to cross the finish line, both with a time of 24:53. Next racers for Mathews to finish were Melody Smith with a time of 25:49 and Emily Rosadino with a time of 27:03.
