MHS students deliver products to help others

Mathews High School students delivered helping products throughout the region on March 13 as they neared completion of service projects undertaken through FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). Advisors Cynthia Hayes and Michelle Williams accompanied Shalan Dease, Ariel Forrest, Abigail Henry, Allayisha Hill-Epps, Mya Schroeder, Breanna Thomas, Alexandra Walker and Avril Zamanian on the trip. Forrest and Hill-Epps were featured at the first stop, delivering their 500th breakfast bag to the Helping the Homeless Ministry in Gloucester. The next stop was Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk where Schroeder, Walker and Thomas delivered 26 fleece tie blankets for pediatric patients as phase two of their project, “Spreading Love and Joy to CHKD.” The girls delivered 75 brightly colored handmade pillowcases in February for phase one.
