The Mathews High School softball teams fell to Middlesex on Tuesday night, with the varsity falling, 10-8, and the JV losing, 10-0.

In the varsity game, six errors and multiple base running mistakes cost the Lady Devils a crucial win, Coach “JJ” Ashberry said. Hailey Love picked up seven strikeouts in the loss. Carter Hayes (three singles), Bentlea Lawrence (double, single), Addy Lowe (two singles) and McKenzie Bartlett (two singles) collected multiple hits, with Marley Brock, Mya Schroeder, Kylee Swanson, and Addy Griffith also getting hits.

On Friday, the MHS varsity team will host Northampton in the Senior Night game. Game time is 5 o’clock.
