MHS soccer teams post shutout wins

The Mathews High School varsity boys’ soccer team delivered a decisive victory over King and Queen last Wednesday night, shutting out the Tigers, 6-0.

Stanley Ouma was the undisputed star of the match, netting an impressive four goals. Single goals from Seth James and Adam Greve also contributed to the final score.

Meanwhile, the Mathews girls’ varsity soccer team also celebrated a decisive win, blanking Northumberland High School with a convincing 5-0 victory. Junior forward Hailey Denkinger led the charge, scoring a remarkable hat trick. Her speed and precision in front of goal were instrumental in securing the win.

Lauren Johnson also contributed significantly, adding two goals to the tally. The Lady Devils’ cohesive teamwork and offensive firepower proved too strong for Northumberland. However, the week presented a tougher challenge for the girls’ team as they faced Bethel High School last Thursday.

In a hard-fought match-up, Bethel defeated the Blue Devils with a 5-0 final score. MHS girls traveled to Northampton High on Tuesday, and will play the West Point Pointers on Wednesday in between the JV and varsity matches.
