The Mathews High School soccer teams had mixed results last Wednesday in their matchups against King William High School. The junior varsity squad delivered a decisive 4-0 victory, while the varsity teams split their contests.
The JV team showcased a strong offensive performance, with goals coming from Bryce Larson, Eric Cardenas, and a pair from Meredith Salvadori. Their cohesive teamwork and clinical finishing proved too much for King William to handle, securing a comfortable win for the young Devils.
Meanwhile, the Mathews girls’ varsity team faced a tough challenge, falling to King William, 7-1. Lauren Johnson managed to put one on the board for the Devils early on into the game, but King William’s offense proved relentless.
