MHS shuts out Panthers, 10-0

The Mathews High School varsity soccer team posted a 10-0 mercy rule win over Charles City last Wednesday and dropped a 4-1 contest on Monday against King William.

Mathews was dominant from the opening kick against the visiting Panthers. Jonny McCann opened up the scoring five minutes into the game, finishing a goal with an assist from Jaysen Hall. Not long after, Lucas Nunnally scored a solo goal after intercepting a pass on Charles City’s defensive half. A minute later, McCann scored again on a solo run through the opposing defensive line. The next goal came from Calvin Kramer, who finished the assist from Tyler Jackson in the 28th minute. Sawyer Hutson was the next Blue Devil on the board, scoring off the assist from Kayla 

Stearns. Next to join the scorer’s column was Jackson, who converted on the assist from Hall.
