MHS seniors find ways to cope with shutdown

Many seniors in the United States are having their last year of high school interrupted by the continued spread of COVID-19, which is causing schools across the country to shut down.

Mathews High School seniors Chesapeake West, Caroline Evans, Avery Betz, Kamryn Blake and Caroline Bray, friends who have dubbed themselves “Tag,” are still finding ways to spend time together amidst the shutdown.

On Wednesday, March 18, Tag decided to have a “pow-wow” on the tennis courts at Mathews Parks and Recreation. They spread out blankets and passed around snacks and treats, like chips and chocolate-covered strawberries, in the outdoor, ventilated area, where they could still spend time together while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
