MHS senior double wins silver at Stotesbury Regatta

Mathews High School captured a silver medal in Saturday’s finals of the men’s senior double at the 92nd annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta, as senior Sebastian Knebl and junior Fletcher Rich beat all rowers except for a duo from Canadian powerhouse E.L. Crossley.

Mathews had three boats racing this weekend. In addition to the men’s senior double entry, senior James Raha rowed in the men’s senior single and Aileigh Daniel and Rachel Witt competed in the women’s senior double. The other boats failed to place.

Sponsored by the Schuylkill Navy, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta is now claimed to be the oldest (since 1927) and largest high school rowing event in the world. This year, almost 200 school teams and nearly 6,000 athletes launched 900+ boats in 31 events.
