MHS runners win at Beaverdam

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams defeated squads from Washington and Lee, Rappahannock, Middlesex, Northampton and King William last Wednesday in a meet at Gloucester’s Beaverdam Park.

The MHS girls won their meet with 28 points. Adelle Hudgins (JV) led the pack with a 22:56, followed by Avery Betz (23:18), Emily Rosadino (JV) (23:33), Abbie Hudgins (23:39), Zoe Camp (JV) (24:48), Melody Smith (24:57), Zoe Goodwin (25:13), Isabella Daniels (JV) ( 25:25), Caroline Bray (25:30) and Kamryn Blake (26:05).

The boys’ team won its meet with 21 points. Cameron Stearns came in first place overall with a time of 16:54, followed by Josh Rosadino (18:00), Dennis Wood (18:41), Braden Hunley (18:50), Carson Brown (19:11), Finn Ciszewski (19:29), Dylan White (19:30), Andrew Greve (JV) (21:30), Brian Robinson (21:51), Aiden Sowers (JV) (23:43) and Henry Hospodar (24:02).
