MHS runners take first in home meet

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took first place at Beaverdam Park last Wednesday, Oct. 6, with team scores of 20 and 22, respectively. They faced off against Middlesex, King William, Rappahannock and Washington and Lee.

Cameron Stearns came in first place with a time of 16:53, followed by Seth James in second (18:37), Dylan White in fourth (19:00) and Carson Brown in fifth (19:11).

Jaxon McDonald finished with a time of 19:51, followed by Gavin Dustin (19:59), Salvador Cardenas (JV) (20:16), Henry Sowers (JV) (20:17), Chance Higginbotham (JV) (20:18), Andrew Greve (20:19), Blake Hunley (JV) (20:20), Franklin Cardenas (22:17), Elias Hidalgo (22:37), Adam Dustin (23:02), Noah Hurst (JV) (23:15), James Daniels (JV) (24:14), Zachary Salvadori (JV) (24:18), Fabian Cardenas (24:38), Stanley Ouma (JV) (24:51), Adam Greve (JV) (26:08), James Allen Morgan (JV) (30:10) and Asher Raub (JV) (30:13).
