MHS runners record personal bests at invitational

The Mathews High School cross country teams traveled to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville on Saturday to compete in the Milestat Invitational.

In the middle school race, which was a 4K, Gavin Dustin ran a 17:42, followed by Seth James (17:52), Bailey Bell (18:21) and Lili Deforge (20:22).

On the JV girls’ team, which ran the standard 5K distance, Adelle Hudgins came in seventh overall with a time of 22:42 which qualified her for a medal. Emily Rosadino came in ninth overall with a time of 23:03 which also qualified her to receive a medal. Zoe Camp ran a 24:11 and Isabella Daniels ran a 24:51. In the JV boys’ race Andrew Greve ran a 21:39, Brian Robinson (21:51) and Aiden Sowers (23:23).

On the varsity girls’ team, with 55 teams competing in the race, Avery Betz ran a 23:28, followed by Abbie Hudgins (23:40), Melody Smith (24:12), Zoe Goodwin (24:30), Caroline Bray (24:45) and Kamryn Blake (26:43).
