MHS runners defeat Northern Neck foes

The Mathews Cross Country team traveled to the Northern Neck community of Weems last Wednesday for a meet hosted by Lancaster.

Mathews competed against teams from Washington and Lee, Northumberland and Lancaster, with both the MHS girls and boys coming in first.

The girls’ team won the meet scoring 20 points. Abbie Hudgins led the pack with a time of 22:59, followed by Adelle Hudgins (JV) (23:16), Avery Betz (23:36), Emily Rosadino (JV) (23:46), Caroline Bray (24:26), Isabella Daniels (24:36), Zoe Camp (JV) (25:15) Melody Smith (25:26), Alexis Deagle (26:27) and Kamryn Blake (27:14).

The boys scored 26 points to win their meet. Cameron Stearns led the boys pack with a time of 18:15, followed closely by Josh Rosadino (18:16), Dennis Wood (19:03), Isaiah Bivins (19:15), Finn Ciszewski (19:27), Braden Hunley (19:29), Dylan White (19:38), Carson Brown (21:06), Andrew Greve (JV) (21:57), Henry Hospodar (24:14), and Aiden Sowers (JV) (26:43).
