MHS runners complete undefeated regular seasons

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams defeated runners from King William and West Point in last Wednesday’s last regular season meet, which was held at Gloucester’s Beaverdam Park.

Before the race, Mathews runners Dylan Berry, Caleb Carson, Reilly Price, Rileigh Betz, Tiffany Condron, and Kayla Stearns were all recognized for Senior Night.

The girls’ race began shortly after, and many Blue Devils set new recordtimes. Abbie Hudgins crossed the line first overall, with a time of 21:54. A large group followed close behind her: Brittany Ottarson (22:15), Rileigh Betz (22:37), Jaysen Hall (22:45), Avery Betz (22:46), Skylar Lewis (22:53) and Connie Johnson (23:30). Mathews’ second group brought Reilly Price (23:56), Kayla Stearns (24:12), Caroline Bray (24:12), Kamryn Blake (24:12), Tiffany Condron (24:44), Zoe Goodwin (24:46), and Caroline Evans (27:21).
