Mathews High School recently announced its January Students of the Month. Selections this month are Aries Jump (freshman), Will Jackson (sophomore), Kat Winters (junior) and Melody De Guzman (senior).

Students are chosen from nominations by a committee of faculty members who evaluate academic standing, attendance, completing work on time, and character. At the end of the school year, a Student of the Year is awarded at each grade level, chosen from among the monthly winners.

Katelyn Dodge, the school’s director of counseling, provided the following information about this month’s recipients:“Aries [Jump] was nominated for Student of the Month for her dedication to her high-quality work, her willingness to advocate for herself when she needs assistance, her attendance and participation in virtual class meetings,...
