MHS jayvee volleyball beats two Northern Neck foes

The Mathews High School jayvee volleyball team posted a pair of two-set victories during the week over a pair of Northern Neck opponents—Essex and Lancaster.

Last Thursday, Mathews had little trouble dispatching the visiting Essex Trojans, winning by scores of 25-14 and 25-8. Mathews served consistently, and scored 17 aces during the course of the match.

Haley Sullivan led the Devils with five aces, followed by Sophia Bondurco and Morgan Driskell with four each, and Taylor South and Madison Owens with two apiece. Driskell led the team in kills, collecting six on the night, followed by Kayla Carter and Sullivan with three each. Bondurco was credited with 12 assists.
Mathews kept its winning streak going on Tuesday, beating the Lancaster Red Devils on the road, 25-18 and 25-15.
